Our team personally uses this app for review purposes and to explore its various features.
Here are some of key points you should know before using the Patreon app.
How does Patreon work
Patreon is a platform where fans invest and stay up to date with their favourite creators consistently. Creators build a paywall and charge patrons a subscription fee to access their work. This is a transparent business model for both sides of the platform. Monthly incomes are paid and creators may rely on this source to support their work. Moreover, Patrons can see how their subscription supports the influencers and upgrade or cancel their membership.
Creators can create membership tiers with varying subscription levels. A basic level offers access to exclusive content, whereas a mid-tier has additional perks like behind-the-scenes. A high tier offers personalized rewards like merchandise or one-on-one video calls.
Patreon fosters a sense of community among creators and investors. Creators connect like-minded people, collaborate with other influencers, and build a fan base who are interested in their art.

Your membership will not renew for next billing period. You may have another account if you have cancelled membership and continue receiving charges.
Pros
Patreon has many advantages in terms of premium-ship. There is no minimum subscriber count if you want to create a paid membership. You can start a paid community even from 100 subscribers. It also offers more attractive prices for creators as they choose from 3subscription levels with 5 to 12% commission. It is a more versatile platform. YouTubers who create a paid membership using Patreon can use the platform on other social media channels.
Some benefits of Patreon include banning such content that involves sexual depiction of minors, images of animal or human abuse, and gambling products.
CONS
If you decide to use Patreon for paid membership you will have to redirect users off YouTuber to Patreon. This may create friction in membership signing up process.
Creator will be able to notify paying members of premium content through app or website. As a result, members will have to either login or download the app to view member only content. This does not happen on other apps such as YouTube. Viewers are notified from the app without having to download additional app. Patreon can be more complicated sometimes, for example, creators will have to create the live stream in YouTube studio, and have to set in ‘unlisted’ to keep it hidden from unpaid members.
